As part of an NICHD funded project, the Social Science Data Analysis Network at the University of Michigan will host a workshop to enable college and university professors to develop class modules using topics from the American Community Survey for courses they will teach during the 2018-19 academic year. The workshop will be held Thursday through Saturday, June 14-16, 2018 in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Workshop Location

The workshop will be held at the Institute for Social Research on the Campus of the University of Michigan. The Institute for Social Research (ISR) is located at 426 Thompson Street, Ann Arbor, Michigan 48104 .

Parking

If you are driving in from out of the state and staying in the hotel, we have you driving in on the evening of June 13. Please proceed to Weber’s Inn (see below). Transportation between Weber’s Inn and ISR will be provided.

For those who local participants who are driving to the workshop each day and plan to park, there are three main parking options (this map (pdf) is useful!). There is a pre-pay lot (Lot W13) across Thompson Street from ISR. Slightly north of ISR is the Maynard Street City Public Parking. If you park here, you may need to park on higher levels when arriving before 10AM. Finally, there is an underground parking structure about 2 blocks away on the west side of Division Street between E. William Street and E. Liberty Street.

Please arrive to ISR between 9:30AM and 10AM on Thursday morning, June 14. Upon entering the main entrance at ISR, you will see a reception desk and signs directing you to the workshop location.

Hotel

For those workshop participants staying at the hotel, you will be staying at Weber’s Inn on the west side of town. A transportation shuttle each morning and each evening will be provided between Weber’s Inn and ISR. If you would like to spend additional time downtown during the evenings, you may be responsible for the transportation costs to return to the hotel. Taxi and Uber fares between downtown and Weber’s Inn are typically around $10.
