The current assignment has following objectives
1. To familiarize students with the structure of peer-reviewed research and related scholarly resources,
2. To Use quantitative sociology skills (such as tabulation, data interpretation, etc.) to analyze and respond to contemporary social problems, and
3. To introduce students familiar with WebCHIP, data sources developed by SSDAN at the University of Michigan.
This capstone research project focuses on writing a short research article designed for Social Problems (SOC1020), a course offered by School of Social Sciences at Utah State University. It can be adopted for various introductory courses in disciplines such as demography, statistics, sociology, and related fields. This capstone research project provides students with the opportunity to delve deeply into a specific contemporary social problem, showcasing their quantitative research and analytical skills. The final deliverables include a well-structured research article (6-8 pages) that summarizes their findings in a clear and articulate manner.
