Context for Use

This activity is used in a sociology class for undergraduate students. This activity explores topics of race/ethnicity, gender and income to look at patterns of inequality among education, occupation and earning between different groups.

This activity provides a look at race and ethnicity inequality in the United States over time.

Teaching Notes and Tips

This activity uses four customized data sets; two made from combining census information from 1950-2000 and two from the 2000 Censuss and guides students through data manipulation using WebCHIP software found at DataCounts!.
