International Women’s Day was on March 8th, giving people a chance to look at some facts about women:

The latest Adult Psychiatric Morbidity Study concluded that 1-in-5 women (approximately 19%) reported symptoms of a common mental disorder, like depression or anxiety. In contrast, 1-in-8 men (approximately 12%) reported symptoms. Read more about the latest in a series of surveys conducted by the APMS here.
  • UNICEF found that educated mothers are more than twice as likely to send their children to school.
  • 62 million girls are out of school, according to the United Nations Girls Education Initiative.
  • Domestic violence is costlier than warfare, costing almost $8 trillion every year.
  • The American Association of University women published that women make 20% less than men, and are not predicted to reach equal levels until 2059 if current conditions exist.
