Census Bureau on Statement on 2020 Census Race & Ethnicity Questions

Tuesday, February 13, 2018 - 12:30

As of January 26th, 2018 the Census Bureau released its new two-question format for new race and ethnicity questions. These questions will be on both the 2018 Census Test and the 2020 Census. However, the Bureau will not include a format for collecting Hispanic origin and race, or a separate Middle Eastern or North African category on the census form. The two-question format is an effort by the Bureau to collect more accurate race and ethnicity data through its surveys. Read more about the newfound changes here.
